New York City of lights
spirits of our beloved    illumine our hearts

 blackened sky:
not if our eyes had seen
                              the flight of souls

styles incognito
bore holes in social systems:
amoral moles

crumbling buildings
            broken trust, safety, freedom:
stronger hope, love, faith

             an eye for an eye?
                       unless vision leads as one
                                    we'll all soon be blind
The Deadly Seven:

  anger:

       rises - rages:
 self-righteous indignation
strikes at faults

    bloats egocentric
        bellows and rants:
             my way or naught

envy/jealousy:

   what i have
              i don't want
   what i want
              i don't have

 lust:

        pleasure i search
    for pleasure's sake:
unslaked

hatred:

 what in you I hate
    is first the me
       that i detest

pride:

being first
      is a turn away
            from being last

gluttony:

- insatiable need
        unsatisfied
a filling
         ungratified

sloth:

  what needs to be done
  i put off 'till tomorrow
  i free up today

nit-picking
categorically
obtuse veining
to do what I don't want
to wait for what I like to
come
I'll decide then

    no need to do now
   what I could do then
   no need to say when
 vermillion sumacks
like seeds of pomegranite
 sunlight-kissed
  moonshine

photosynthesis
manufacturing plant
energy transference

 silent ocean plane
  water-waves
depth-perception
   aquamarine bed

green-green evergreen:
summer presence in winter
 transluscent spring sprouts

emerald sunshine
awash wet water-glitter
deep tone; secret jade stone

firn-green filaments:
 fine floor-trails and
high-pendants
whisper-hush forest-cool

lion mane tangle
golden hair wrapped around
burs
cut-away mantle

ritual salve
grist-heavy cleansing sky rain
 tears run down my cheeks
insight:
out of the tunnel
and into the light

 look-alikes:
 uniforms on the job
 united

              stone slingers
are among those  who fear
their own stoning

wild flowers deemed weeds
uncultured random beauty
     grow disqualified

My Brother's Collection:

 silver dollars down
     piggy-bank jar collection
  thieves steal memories

silken lanoline fur
seeks my hand and gentle rub
 cat-purrs shake the bed

the squirrel escapes
claws the fence sideways
cats watch feat - transfixed

' celestial phenomenon '
a redenga by an'ya and Mary Angela Nangini
Oregon and Brampton - August,  2001

sailor's warning      red sunrise at the end of the dock

on my way to the beach      a burning bush

ten fire ants      carry one morsel into their anthill

dead of winter      no crumbs for the cardinal

morning after      a black widow's mate no longer in her web

cyberspace wars' Mayday      a worm a virus a code

spring fever      yet still spotted with chicken pox

my garnet pendant      studded with diamonds

French rosebud      hanging from its broken stem

Freeport shark attack      mangled leg amputated

outside the hen house      two cocks fight comb to comb

beyond our galaxy      a supernova
