The First Station: Jesus Is Condemned To Die
From Annas to Caiaphas to Pilate
From Pilate to Herod; From Herod to Pilate:
Pilate: I have the power to release you or crucify
you.
Jesus: You would have no power over me
If it were not given to you from above.
Scourged
Mocked
Spat upon
Struck
Crowned with thorns
Pilate: What more do you want?
People: Crucify him! Crucify him!
Jesus Carries The Cross
He takes on himself the World
He takes it to the Cross
The wrongs before him and after him:
The wars, world terrorism, pollutants and toxins
Injustices, indifference to our suffering
In Africa, Afghanistan, Jerusalem, Palestine
He takes our sins with the Cross
Jesus Is Nailed To The Cross
One nail. Another nail. And yet another.
Jesus is nailed to the Cross.
A true victim. A victim of violence. He
does not resist. He accepts.
His life for our eternal life. He does not
turn back on his word.
Obedient to the end, he submits to His
Father’s Will.
Jesus, the Word of God.
The Crowds We are with you all of us who suffer injustice.
We are nailed to the cross with you all who suffer abuse and neglect.
We are nailed with you all who are tortured uselessly in the name of war, in the name of righteous
indignation, in the name of false peace.
These are not your ways but the ways of false power
These are not the ways of peace but of sin.
We suffer with you:
We are nailed with you on the cross of misery by starvation
We are nailed with you in our political strife for supremacy amid power imbalances, unequal status and social
position
We are nailed with you amidst the rampage of yet another world plague HIV/AIDS
We are nailed with you in our social emotional corruptions, and human brutality against human in our
families, in our communities, in our nations.
